Counselling with Caroline

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
— Laozi

Hello and thank you for visiting my website. I am guessing you are curious to explore and potentially find someone who can help with how you are currently feeling.

I am a fully qualified Integrative-Relational Counsellor, holding a BA (Hons) degree from Middlesex University in this field.  I also am committed to additional training to continue with my growth and development, ensuring I bring my best work for my clients.

With my experience in working both privately and as an in-house counsellor within NHS settings, I am dedicated and feel deeply passionate about helping people navigate through life's challenges and unlock their inner potential.

I’m a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and adhere to their ethics and principles throughout my work.  I also attend regular clinical supervision with my supervisor who is registered with the BACP.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked in the corporate world for 25+ years and understand the push and pulls of this stressful environment and the difficulties around creating and retaining a healthy work-life balance.

About me

We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.

How I work

I understand that it can be daunting and a little overwhelming to choose a counsellor.

I strongly believe that it is about the relationship that we develop and the importance for you to feel comfortable and that I am the right fit for you. With my empathic, non-judgmental approach, I offer a safe space to look at these things that are impacting you, things that together, we can explore.

As a relational counsellor, I strive to deeply understand you as an individual, appreciating your uniqueness as we develop our therapeutic relationship. Think of me as your navigator, guided by you and what you want to explore.  I can provide some insight and gentle challenge which my clients say has been extremely helpful as often they are too close and unable to see clearly through their own lens.

In my practice, I’m able to integrate various theories, or tools, tailoring our sessions to your unique needs.  I’m very aware that these tools are pretty unfamiliar to some, so I hope the below provides some clarity for you:-

  • Psychodynamic

By exploring unconscious patterns and past experiences, we can uncover underlying issues that influence current behaviours and emotions. This approach fosters deep insight and facilitates lasting change.

  • Person-Centred

Central to my practice is a humanistic, or person-centred approach. This emphasises empathy, authenticity, and the belief in your inherent capacity for growth and happiness. I will support you in exploring your challenges, emotions, beliefs and behaviours, helping you gain self-awareness and foster greater independence.

  • Gestalt

This therapeutic approach is centred on the present moment - the here and now. By emphasising slowing down and deepening self-connection. I collaborate with clients to enhance their awareness of their own strengths and resources, empowering them to take action toward a more fulfilling life.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT focuses on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we will identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop practical strategies to promote positive change.

  • Existential

Focusses on exploring our uniqueness and how we find meaning, purpose, and authenticity in our lives. It is rooted in existential philosophy, which deals with questions about existence, freedom, our values, responsibility, death, and the meaning of life.

We do not learn from experience. We learn from reflecting on experience.
— Dewey
